Mini-Challenge: Zero vs. One vs. Few

Pick one task from the list below. Run it three times — once with zero-shot, once with one-shot, once with few-shot — and compare the outputs.

Pick a task

  • Option A (easier): Generate a short product tagline for a camp T-shirt.
  • Option B (medium): Write a one-paragraph event description for a hackathon.
  • Option C (harder): Write an HTML button component in your page's existing style.

Build and run

Zero-shot: Just ask. No examples, no format instructions.

One-shot: Add one example before the task. Use the same task.

Few-shot: Add two or three examples. Use the same task.

Run each version in the same model. Look at the three outputs side by side.

Reflect

Write one sentence: "For this task, [zero/one/few]-shot worked best because ___."

There's no right answer. The goal is to see the difference between the three approaches on the same concrete task before lunch.
